YOUTH empowerment advocate and entrepreneur James Pande has been honoured for his contribution to community development and philanthropy in Masvingo province.
Pande, president of the economic empowerment movement Big Deal, received the Community Empowerment and Philanthropy Champion Award at the Masvingo Community Trailblazers Awards held on Friday.
The recognition adds to a growing list of accolades for Pande, who was named Man of the Year in Community Empowerment at the inaugural Zimbabwe Men of the Year Awards last year.
His achievements in the creative industry also date back more than a decade.
In 2015, Pande won the Best Fashion Label Award at the ZIM Models Awards.
Speaking after receiving the latest award, Pande said the recognition affirmed his commitment to youth empowerment and community development.
He said he remained committed to supporting the government's economic empowerment agenda, particularly initiatives targeting young people under the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
The awards, hosted by Perfection Media Pvt Ltd and endorsed by the Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, brought together individuals recognised for their contributions to the social and economic development of Masvingo province.

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira attended the event as guest of honour.
Among the other recipients were Great Zimbabwe University Vice-Chancellor Professor Rungano Zvobgo, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Higher Education Transformation and Academic Leadership; Chadzamira, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Provincial Economic Blueprint and Devolution; Shanna Mazorodze, who was honoured as Women in Business Trailblazer; and Professor Jacob Mufunda, who received the Global Public Health and Medical Education Academic Leadership Trailblazer Award.
The awards seek to recognise individuals whose work is contributing to community development, economic transformation, entrepreneurship, education and public service in Masvingo.
