INSIZA NORTH, SEPT 28, (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE) — The Sikhanyisiwe Nkomo Foundation has come to the rescue of Job Hove's family after a veld fire razed down the latter's entire homestead in Ward 13，Insiza North district.
The fire broke out on Wednesday last week, destroying the family's household property, food supplies and livestock.
This prompted the foundation to chip in with blankets while neighbours, churches mobilised additional assistance.
The fire is believed to have started in the Zvamandere bush before spreading rapidly towards the Hove homestead.
Agritex officer Letween Kwangari said the exact cause of the fire had not yet been established.“We are not yet sure of the exact cause of the fire. We suspect a technical fault, something might have burst in the bush,” Kwangari said.
The blaze destroyed household property, turkeys and the family's stored maize meal, leaving the Hoves facing the difficult task of rebuilding their lives with few resources.
Sikhanyisiwe Nkomo pledged additional assistance to help the family recover.
“I am an ardent believer in the Word of God and an elder in the ZAOGA church. We are trained to care for the weary and the broken-hearted. I have bought blankets for the Hove family and I am pledging a new bed and five 50kg bags of maize meal ready for collection before October 5, 2026,” Nkomo said.
