Mzilikazi resident loses property in suspected arson attack

Bulawayo police spokesperson Nomalanga Msebele said the incident happened after the house owner had gone out for a prayer session.

BULAWAYO, OCT 8 (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE): Police in Bulawayo are investigating a suspected arson attack that occurres at a house in Mzilikazi on Wednesday afternoon.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Nomalanga Msebele said the incident happened after the house owner had gone out for a prayer session.

"On October 7 at around 12 pm, the complainant, a 67-year-old woman from Mzilikazi left her house secured while she went for afternoon prayers," Msebele said.

 

"She was later informed by a neighbour that her house was on fire. The Fire Brigade Services was summoned and extinguished the fire." 

 

Msebele said upon her arrival, the owner allegedly discovered that the house had had been forced open. 

 

"A gas tank that had been in the kitchen was later found in the bedroom," she said.

 

Property, including clothes, two beds and important documents was destroyed in the fire but nothing was stolen."
