BULAWAYO, OCT 10, (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE): A BULAWAYO man has been jailed for an effective 16 months after striking a tenant on the forehead with a hoe during a misunderstanding in Tshabalala.
Dumisani Khumalo (30) was sentenced to 36 months in prison by the Bulawayo Magistrates Court after being convicted of attempted murder.
Of the 36 months, 20 months were suspended on condition of good behaviour, leaving him to serve an effective 16 months behind bars.
Prosecutors said the incident occurred on September 2, 2026, after Khumalo had a misunderstanding with the younger brother of Helman Sibanda, a tenant at a house in Tshabalala.

When Sibanda intervened, Khumalo allegedly picked up a hoe and struck him once on the forehead.
“The offender was arrested and charged with attempted murder,” the prosecutors said.
The victim was taken to hospital, with the State presenting a medical report in court to demonstrate the seriousness of the injuries and support the attempted murder charge.
