Money, the mind game!

We grow up in situations where we are told that to be wealthy, you have to be lucky or wealth flows in the blood of specific people.

OW is your money temperature? Are you free from debts? How much have you saved? Are you financially free? Do you use money or money uses you? What is your behaviour around money? What is your behaviour if you don’t have money?

Wealth has been measured by what we see and sound to us, but the true essence of it is in the mind.

What we see around us is a byproduct of thought.

The level of your wealth is just the measure of your thought.

Wealth creation starts and ends in the mind.

Greatness is what you coin in your mind and then let your hands do the moulding of those creative pictures you see in your mind.

The only problem is that most people have been conditioned by lies.

We grow up in situations where we are told that to be wealthy, you have to be lucky or wealth flows in the blood of specific people.

Your mind is so massive to dwell on those immaterial views; wealth is what anyone can have.

Wealthy or successful people are those people with successful thoughts and habits.

They live and conduct their life in a way that makes them successful.

What will make you successful in life is to study the lives of successful people, and understand the principles that governed them in their quest for success.

Tom Hopkins (1982: 144), in his book The Official Guide to Success, prescribes a three-step formula:

“l Make more than you’re spending now.

“l Every time you increase your earning, increase the percentage between what you make and what you spend.

“l Invest your percentage in equity positions that (a) offer tax shelter, (b) take advantage of inflation”

The above takes discipline and dedication.

You might be broke right now, but that should not dictate and determine your financial future.

Why? Being broke is temporary, but being poor is a state of mind.

Success in life is not about where you were or where you are, but where you want to be.

The problem is not being born poor, but dying poor because we are endowed with a boundless mind.

The first step is having a mind-set to join the 10% of the world’s population which owns 90% of the wealth. It’s possible!

Don’t believe lies about money

Some people say money is the root of all evil. That is a lie!

I think “lack” of money is also the root of evil.

The bible says: “The love of money is the root of all evil”.

Most people detest, and talk bad about rich people and call them all sorts of names.

My advice is: Talk less, learn more from the rich and recoil your subconscious conditioning about money.

Money is a tool you can use to change your life.

What you value also increases in value. You attract what you appreciate.

The day I made my mind to be wealthy; it has not been a struggle for me to meet millionaires and even strike deals with them.

Why? I charged my mind-set.

Save 10% of all your earnings

Ten percent of all your income must be saved.

Put aside 10% for a rainy day.

This will help you since unforeseen eventualities are inevitable.

Even if you earn US$10 dollars today your future is bright.

I tell you, you can give me a dollar today and I can assure you, in 365 days I will have made US$1 378.

I learnt this from Kassondra Perry-Moreland, who produced what is famously known as the 52 Week Money Challenge.

You can download that from https://www.affinityplus.org/Portals/0/Documents/Blog/52Week.pdf

Tithe

From every income that you get, take out the tithe.

Others who are not Christians use this 10% to give to charity.

This is a principle that in inscribed in Malachi 3 verse 10 that says: “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

This principle unlocks all blessings for you.

For me, I have seen it unleash all cosmic forces that should come to my aid and have attracted all the best that I have needed to be successful.

Cut on extra expenses

There are some unnecessary expenses that keep us bound.

Cut down on other costs like credit accounts.

Most people have been taught or conditioned to spend rather than to save.

The moment they pick a US$1 note, the first thing that comes to their mind is: What do I buy?

The first question that should be in your mind is: How do I grow this dollar? How do I multiply it? How do I invest it?

Give money to others

Giving is the essence of life. In fact giving is living.

If you don’t give, you are not in the flow of life.

Give to receive. Before I mastered this principle I always wondered why the golden book says it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Money is also called a “currency”.

Currency is derived from the word: “current”, which means flow.

Money is meant to be in the flow or in circulation.

How do we keep that working?

By giving it out: that keeps us positioned to be in the constant flow to receive.

You don’t give out of abundance, but into abundance.

John Harricharan in a book by Joe Vitale called The Greatest Money-Making Secret says: “By giving and sharing the little we have, we open up the storehouse of the universe and permit rivers of good to come our way…You have to give and give a lot, to be in the flow of life to receive.”

Tune your mind.

What manner of speech are you making about money?

The Bible says in Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinketh so is he”.

If you want to know a person’s poverty levels, listen to what bubbles out of their lips.

Out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.

What thoughts do you have? Who do you associate with? What do you talk about?

Because all that influences your mind-set has an effect on your attitude, and determines how you behave and eventually controls your results.

If you say you can be rich you are right.

If you say you can’t be rich, you are also right.

This, therefore, means, whichever way we choose, it could be riches or poverty, we will attain.

To avoid poverty, we should change our paradigm, change our speech, alter our habits and re-invent our actions.

There is a life pattern with poor people and so it is with the wealthy.

This pattern can be changed.

Have you ever noticed that in most cases poor people act similarly?

I thought this was only in my country Zimbabwe, until I saw poor people in South Africa.

It’s like they were born from the same family even though they are in different countries.

The simple way to wealth is to duplicate what the wealthy people do. Simple!

Don’t reinvent the wheel; learn!

Rich people have a similar way of doing things.

They have a special ritual which you can emulate.

Connect with people that are financially successful.

Money flows in relationships.

If your relationships are broken, invest in other relationships.

All that I have learnt from rich people in seminar books and in my interviews with millionaires is nothing new. It has always been there.

So why try to reinvent the wheel?

Simply, do or copy what the rich people do until you become like them.

Do more to be more

All successful people, it could be sports persons, entrepreneurs, authors or speakers, are ordinary people with extraordinary dreams and actions.

They do daily, what the average person does occasionally.

You want to be a pro in the field of your dreams?

Set up a daily growth programme and follow it.

We become what we repeatedly do.

Champions are not made in the ring, they are merely noticed there.

They first win in their daily routine.

A billionaire named Paul J. Meyer put it like this, “Do a little bit more than average and from that point on, your progress multiplies itself out of all proportion to the effort put in.”

Parting point: A millionaire, speaker and author, T. Harvey Eker, who also endorsed one of my books says: “The only way to permanently change the temperature in the room is to reset the thermostat. In the same way, the only way to change your level of financial success ‘permanently’ is to reset your financial thermostat, otherwise known as your money blue print”.

Your success is just a thought away.

You have to make a decision to be successful and wealthy.
