
CASMYN have made their intentions known early in the Zifa Southern Region Soccer League, sending Mainline to the cleaners with a 5-1 at Turk Mine when the league kicked off on Saturday.
The club, based in Inyathi in Bubi district, were the runners-up in the league last season, missing out on promotion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) as ZPC Hwange won the Division One championship.
ZPC Hwange went into a partnership with Zifa Northern Region Division One runners-up MWOS FC, who took up the PSL slot and rule the roost in the top league with six games played.
Bulawayo City, relegated from the topflight in 2022, are back in the Division One league and were in a no-nonsense mood in their first game, beating Jordan FC 3-0 at Luveve.
Zebra Revolution, in their second season in the league, were third biggest scorers in the first week as they beat army side Imbizo 2-1 on the road at Lookout Masuku Barracks (formely Llewellin).
Bulawayo Chiefs, relegated from the top league last season, also picked up maximum points in their first duty in Division One, riding over seasoned campaigners Talen Vision 1-0 at Luveve on Sunday.
The Ninjas were away.
Another side relegated from the PSL, Hwange, drew 1-1 with Victoria Falls Herentals on Sunday at Chinotimba in the resort town.
