
KWEKWE United’s problems are mounting as they were yesterday summoned to a disciplinary hearing after failing to fulfil their fixture against Herentals on Monday.
The newly-promoted side are facing a financial crisis, which saw players boycotting the match on Monday.
They attracted a lot of criticism, with some calling for their expulsion from the league.
Yesterday, PSL summoned them to a hearing set for May 5.
“The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has summoned Kwekwe United to appear before the PSL disciplinary committee following the club’s failure to fulfil its scheduled fixture against Herentals on Monday April 21,” the PSL statement read.
“Kwekwe United have been charged with breaching Order 31 of the PSL rules and regulations, which states that it is an act on the part of the club where: It fails to fulfil a fixture for which a date and venue have been fixed by the league; Behave in a manner which brings the league or any of its sponsors into disrepute or endangers the welfare of the league.”
The club is scurrying for solutions to their problems ahead of their clash with Dynamos in Harare on Sunday.
Kwekwe United chairman Francis Tavagadza said they are desperately looking for help.

“We are open for any kind of assistance, in terms of sponsorship. We call upon everyone who can come to assist us in any way so that the club can move forward,” he said.
“We need US$35 000 to US$40 000 per month to run this club and it’s not a small amount in these prevailing economic conditions. We need assistance from whoever can assist us.”
Yesterday, Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigowe told reporters that his club was in a striker crisis after scoring just two goals in seven games.
They lost their last match against newly-promoted and league leader MWOS FC on Monday, a game which was played at Ngoni Stadium in Norton.
