SEASONED Chapungu Queens and Mighty Warriors forward Rudo Neshamba has rediscovered her scoring form since coming back from a lengthy injury that ruled her out of competition for the greater part of last season.

Over the weekend, Neshamba found the back of the net seven times in Chapungu’s 18-0 drubbing of newly-promoted Red Buffalo Sports Club, who currently anchor the 16-team log standing on zero points and a goal difference of -54, scoring once in five outings.

She was the first on the scoresheet as early as the fourth minute, completing her hat-trick with two more goals after 23 and 30 minutes and her fourth at the stroke of half time.

Neshamba was back again to haunt the home team, scoring in the first minute after the break and again in the 69th minute, before capping off her fine afternoon with her seventh goal in the 86th minute. Equally potent striker, Ethel Chinyerere, who serenaded the local league last season, scored a hat-trick, skipper Natasha Ndowa, Miranda Ncube and Dorothy Nyoni weighed in with a brace each, while Sheilla Antonio and Hazvinei Dhlakama had a goal apiece.

Chapungu are in pole position with 18 points from six matches and a healthy goal difference of 36. They are yet to concede a goal this season. Platinum Royals are second with 15 points from five matches. Defending champions Herentals sit in third place with 15 points from five matches. Black Rhinos Queens and Correctional Queens completed the top five standings in their respective fourth and fifth with 13 and 12 points from six and five matches.

This past weekend saw Herentals Queens beat Harare City Queens 3-0 at The Heart Stadium. Highlanders Royals held Black Rhinos 1-1 at Bulawayo Chiefs Village, Sheasham Gweru Queens triumphed in the Midlands Derby, beating Kwekwe United 4-0 at Bata Stadium, while Conduit Soccer Academy drew 0-0 against Cranborne Royals at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva.
