BIKITA FC soared to a commanding 3-0 victory over Herentals at Sakubva Stadium in a vital Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match, significantly easing their relegation concerns.

With goals from Spenser Mugariri, Tinashe Ruzive, and Tinaye Tsimba, Bikita showcased their attacking prowess, turning the tide in their favour as they strive to escape the dangers of relegation.

Herentals attempted to seize control of the match in the early stages. Just two minutes into the game, they were awarded a free kick in a dangerous position.

Innocent Benza stepped up to take the shot, but his attempt was blocked by Bikita's wall, signalling the beginning of a competitive encounter.

Bikita’s first significant chance arrived in the 10th minute when Herentals defender Melvin Mukiwa blundered, misplacing a back pass that was intercepted by Bikita striker Ruzive.

Herentals goalkeeper Tinodaishe Takarinda was equal to the task to deny Ruzive.

As the half progressed, Bikita began to assert their dominance.

In the 26th minute, Mugariri took full advantage of a loose ball in the penalty box, striking a low shot that left Takarinda with no chance.

The goal ignited the home crowd and set the tone for Bikita’s continued assault.

Despite Herentals’ attempts to respond, including a fierce shot from Tinashe Mazambani that rattled the crossbar in the 31st minute, they found themselves on the back foot.

Bikita went into halftime with a well-deserved lead, having controlled the game with an attacking mindset.

The second half saw Bikita maintaining their momentum.

In the 58th minute, Ruzive scored his first goal of the match by tapping in a pass from an unselfish Tsimba, doubling the lead and putting Herentals in a precarious position.

However, the joy for Bikita was short lived as their captain Chelsea Nyakope received a red card shortly after for a second bookable offence, reducing them to 10 men.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Bikita did not relent in their pursuit of goals. In the 75th minute, Tsimba put the game to bed with a well-placed header from a clever cross delivered by Ruzive, bringing the score to 3-0.

In a post-match interview, Bikita coach Wilson Mutekede expressed his satisfaction with the outcome.

"Considering the relegation matrix, I am happy with this convincing win. We are pleased to have scored three goals. Our chances of survival are as good as any other team in this tight race against relegation. Collecting maximum points is crucial, and we hope to build on this momentum in our upcoming matches," Mutekede said.

On the other side, Herentals coach Celestino Benza lamented the missed opportunities that cost his team the match.

“The result is something that is unacceptable at all. We were in control at the start and should have scored several goals. My strikers lacked the composure needed to finish, and this is something we will work on moving forward,” Benza he said.

As the season reaches its climax, some bottom placed teams find themselves at crossroads.

Bikita will relish their newfound confidence following this emphatic win, while Herentals must regroup and address their attacking inefficiencies to avoid slipping further down the table.

As the battle against relegation intensifies, every point will be crucial, with the league heading toward its conclusion.
