Preparations are underway for the second edition of the Champions of Champions Cup, to be hosted by the Zifa Southern Region Soccer League (SRSL), with the 2025 tournament expected to be bigger and better.
The previous edition, hosted by the Central Region, was won by the SRSL’s ZPC Hwange, who beat the Eastern Region’s Triangle 2-1 at Bata Stadium.
This victory occurred before ZPC Hwange changed their name to Megawatt.
SRSL spokesperson Blessing Mbwanda said groundwork was being laid for the tournament, which will be played this month on dates still to be confirmed.
“We are working around the clock to ensure that we make this year’s edition bigger and better,” he said.
“We have laid the groundwork, and I believe that we will pull off an exciting tournament.
“The bar is already high because the Central Region did well last year, but we just want this tournament to grow.
“The onus is on us now to push and make this one memorable.”

The tournament features the winners of the Division One leagues from across the country. Currently, Hunters FC from the Eastern Region have been confirmed as champions.
In the SRSL, however, Bulawayo Chiefs await a verdict from the Disciplinary Committee to be confirmed as champions.
Chiefs’ competitors, Hwange and Nkayi United, lodged a complaint regarding the registration of Anesu Saiti, citing irregularities with the player’s registration after he joined Amakhosi Amahle from Bulawayo City in July.
Chiefs currently lead the standings by seven points with one game remaining.
In the Central Region, controversy has also clouded the title race, although order was restored after second-placed Sheasham briefly pulled out of the league.
Hardrock are now a single win away from promotion with two matches remaining.
In the Northern Region, the race is going down to the wire, with Nombeyawora leading Agama by just one point.
Judging by the current form and standings, the four teams likely to compete in the tournament are Hunters, Chiefs, Hardrock, and Nombeyawora.
