MASVINGO — Masvingo town is fast running out of burial space, prompting the local authority to seek another site for a cemetery, recent full council minutes reveal.

According to minutes of the last full council meeting, one of the city’s cemeteries, Mangwandi, is almost full, with the local authority hard-pressed to identify another site.
This follows the filling up of all burial space at Jairos Jiri Cemetery.Masvingo mayor Alderman Femius Chakubuda, however, shot down the burial space shortages report, saying the cemetery which got full catered for the elite.
“We are looking for another site for a cemetery of the same level,” he said.
“Mangwandi is an up-market cemetery and we are looking for another one like that.”
He, however, confirmed that Jairos Jiri Cemetery no more space.
“Yes, Jairos Jiri cemetery is also filled up. But we are not panicking yet,” he said.
