Event organiser Tafadzwa Maridhadhi confirmed the event to Southern Eye Lifestyle  yesterday, adding that the sungura hits master promised local fans a scintillating performance.

“Macheso will be return to the city since his last show in December, after we cancelled his May event this year,” Maridhadhi said. “The Sungura starved fans in the city have requested for Macheso and they should expect an energy filled performance by the Sungura King.”

Macheso, deserted by three key band members Jonas Kasamba, Noel Nyazanda and drummer, Obert Gomba, is up and running again after he hired replacements. The musician recently suffered an ankle injury in Guruve and performed with a plaster on his left leg at New Life Night Club in Budiriro, Harare last week. On the night Macheso introduced his new band members, including chanter Zhli Mulaphi Mumba from Democratic Republic of Congo and Gift Chekumanyara. “After what has been said about Macheso he has proved his worth and fans in the city should expect a show to remember,” Maridhadhi said. Macheso’s manager William Tsandukwa predicted a successful show in the City of Kings, saying the Orchestra Mberikwazvo would give all its best, more so after they were forced to cancel their May event as it clashed with Jeys Marabini’s Bulawayo Comes Alive event.
