The man was not asked to plead to the charge and was remanded in custody to August 5.
The prosecutor Mandla Ndlovu told the court that sometime in August 2010, the man was sleeping in the same room with the complainant, whose age is not disclosed.
He allegedly sneaked under her blankets and raped her.
The girl reported the incident to her grandmother and the family sat down with the accused whom they made to compensate the family with a cow.
It is the State case that the girl’s uncle visited Nhembudziya and was told of what happened.

In a similar case, two men from Bigboom Compound in Kwekwe were also locked up in remand prison after they grabbed a woman, assaulted, raped her and stole $20 from her.
This was after one of them had proposed love to her and she declined.

Danga proposed love to her and she turned the proposal down.
The two then assaulted her several times before taking her $20 and a cellphone.
