A self-proclaimed prophet from Mathala area in Nkayi has been sentenced to an effective 14 months in jail after he extorted two head of cattle from a villager whom he had alleged had a goblin.

Nkululeko Dube (35) pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before Tsholotsho magistrate Carrington Karidzagundu. The magistrate convicted and sentenced him to 24 months in jail. Ten months of the sentence were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.

The sentence has been forwarded to the Bulawayo Magistrates’ Courts to be sent to the High Court.
