ZIMBABWEAN young entrepreneur Gilmore Moyo has landed a job with a South Africa Internet-based radio station Radio Junto where he co-hosts the Continental Breakfast Show.
Moyo, from Bulawayo, debuted on Radio Junto on the morning of September 24 streaming online.
Moyo co-hosts the Continental Breakfast Show with Eben Niemann, a South African broadcaster.
The show is aired every Tuesday between 7:30am and 8:30am. They touch on different issues, including the weather, entertainment, informative news, current affairs and topical global issues.
Moyo revealed to Southern Eye Lifestyle that he was excited to be on radio, given stiff competition for broadcasting jobs in South Africa and the world over.
“I have done a lot of radio interviews, but this for me is a step ahead as I get to be responsible for the content we air.
“Being on air and on the show is not just about me, but also my co-host. You have to flow and give people the best news in an entertaining way,” he added.
Moyo admitted being on Radio Junto presented him a first chance to be live on radio professionally, adding that it ignites the creativity in him.
“Being on a South African radio station shows how much the world recognises Zimbabweans. I have always wanted to be on radio and back in high school I was involved in some programmes. I am looking forward to get my own one-hour slot.
“This opportunity allows me to grow and benefit others through it. I would love and will be happy to see others growing because of my small contributions,” he added.
Moyo was recently nominated for the Style Icon award at the Zimbabwe Fashion Week Awards 2013. He is part of 30 young Africans rated influential in 2013.
