Akim Masuku of Chezhou Village in Hwange was convicted on his own plea of guilty to contravening the Wildlife and Management Act (illegal possession of ivory) by Hwange provincial magistrate Rose Dube.

Six months from a suspended sentence on a previous conviction were also brought into effect.

His co-accused Normal Ncube from the same village pleaded not guilty and wiil be tried in due course. He was remanded in custody to October 30.
