Sikhululekile Msipa was convicted on her own plea when she appeared before Gwanda magistrate Arafat Kozani facing an assault charge.

Msipa was sentenced to 18 months of which six months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.

The remaining 12 months were wholly suspended on condition that she performs 410 hours of community service at Gohole Primary School in Kezi.

Prosecuter Jefta Nyikadzinashe told the court that sometime in 2012, Sinqobile Ncube (20) lent Msipa a 20-litre plastic bucket and then left for Bulawayo.

On her return in April 2013, Ncube asked for her bucket back from Msipa who told her that her husband Farai Muyambo had broken it and promised to replace it. On September 19, Ncube reminded Msipa of her bucket which had still not been replaced and Msipa’s husband intervened promising to replace it.

The court heard that on September21 at around 7:30am Ncube and Msipa had an argument over the bucket and exchanged harsh words.

It is the State’s case that Ncube went to Maphisa business centre for a beer drink and then at around 8:30pm, she left the centre and proceeded to Msipa’s bedroom hut where she insulted her over the bucket.

Msipa emerged from the hut with a knife and stabbed Ncube twice in the neck and eight times all over the body and fled the scene.

Ncube was taken to hospital for treatment and a medical report was compiled. The matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of Msipa.
