A BULAWAYO-BASED Zimpapers employee is in trouble after allegedly defrauding the company of $1 631 through converting some cash meant for medical aid funds to his own use.

Daphney Zinyama (34) of Bellevue pleaded not guilty to the charge when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove last week and was granted $100 bail and remanded to December 12.
The court heard that sometime between January and February this year, Zinyama, who was secretary of the company’s medical aid scheme, requested cash in the form of vouchers for medical aid payments.
Zinyama requested a voucher for $345 and she paid $145 to medical practitioners and converted $200 to her own use.
On January 10 she allegedly request a voucher for $249 and paid $99, converting $150 to her own use.
On January 31 she requested a voucher for $340 and paid $120. On February 7, she requested a voucher for $551 and paid $439.
It is also the State’s case that on February 19, she requested a voucher for $2 144 and paid $1 271 to medical practitioners and converted $873 to her own use.
