Nqobizitha Siziba (31) and his younger brother Reason Siziba (22) were each granted $50 bail by Bulawayo magistrate Takundwa Witness Mtetwa and remanded to January 17 for trial.
The court heard that on New Year’s Day at around 2pm, a man went to Mzilikazi Police Station to seek assistance in a theft case involving Nqobizitha.
Two police constables were assigned to accompany the man and arrest Nqobizitha.
It is the State’s case that the man and the two cops went to Nqobizitha’s house and found him in the company of his younger brother Reason.
The plainclothed cops identified themselves and then told Nqobizitha that he was under arrest for theft.
Reason, intervened and told the policemen not to arrest his brother. Reason allegedly attacked one of the cops by punching him on the face several times with clenched fists.

The two cops retreated and the brothers started pelting them with stones. The policemen fled, but the brothers gave chase and caught up with the officer who had earlier been punched in the face. They further assaulted him with Nqobizitha allegedly striking him once on the head while Reason was holding him.
The cop sustained a deep cut on the head and the Siziba brothers were only arrested after reinforcements were sent to apprehend them.
