Alton Hove (23) appeared before Gokwe resident magistrate Shepherd Mjanja yesterday facing a murder charge and was remanded in custody to January 30.

The court heard that on January 14 at around 8:30pm, Hove was at Shonai village in Gokwe North when he had a quarrel with his older brother Ocean Spikita over their mother’s money.

According to the State’s outline, Spikita was asked by his mother to collect money from another villager and settle some debts she owed a few people.

Spikita returned home late and Alton then allegedly accused him of squandering the money citing his late return as evidence. Alton allegedly picked up a brick and struck his brother on the head resulting in him dying before he could be taken to hospital.
