Bhebhe indicated earlier this week that the province was due to hold a meeting, but MDC-T Matabeleland North provincial youth chairperson Fredrick Ngwenya yesterday told Southern Eye provincial structures were not aware of the meeting.

“The MDC-T Matabeleland North Youth Assembly is disturbed by media reports of a planned provincial assembly meeting on Saturday March 1 in Lupane,” Ngwenya said.

“As a provincial structure, we are not aware of and are not part of the intended meeting.”

He said they were aware that some members “are bent on using the party structures to destabilise and divide our party”.

“One such individual is Bhebhe the deputy national organising secretary who is working overtime fanning divisions and sowing confusion in the party structures,” he said.

“All in the know recall that not long ago, Bhebhe insulted our leader Morgan Tsvangirai saying he had soiled himself.” Contacted for comment last night Bhebhe became abusive.

After the original MDC split in 2005, Bhebhe joined the Welshman Ncube-led MDC, but was subsequently fired and later joined MDC-T.

Ngwenya said any attempt to change the leadership outside congress “is mischievous and Bhebhe will not be allowed to perpetrate such mischief”.

Provincial chairperson Sengezo Tshabangu faces a vote of no confidence by party structures at the Saturday meeting for his alleged links to the anti-Tsvangirai lobby.
