It was not the first time that Lexi, a customer care consultant from Cape Town and Mandla, a spaza shop owner from Sebokeng, had had sex, but most of the tweets about this latest encounter were complaints about how the two did not use condoms. This while one of the show’s sponsors is the condom brand Lovers Plus.
The first instance happened last Saturday when the two paired up on national television and the following day Mandla was seen asking Big Brother for morning-after pills.
This time Mandla and Lexi hooked up during the popular Shower Hour, which is from 9pm to 10pm, and Twitter was flooded with explicit pictures of them in the act. Venda man (@Vusani_) tweeted: “Big brother Mzansi is just porn.”
Dubbed “Mandlexi”, the couple’s two-week courtship began with a sensual massage and escalated quickly to late-night talks and showers. Outside the house Mandla has a girlfriend who advised him not to do anything “stupid” in a video message sent to him. BBM has popular condom brand, Lovers Plus, as one of its official sponsors and has condoms placed around the house. An unofficial BBM twitter account also tweeted screen grabs of the saucy scene which twitter followers reacted to negatively.
