Bulawayo champion Chastro Sibanda, national team player Ronald Chimhanzi, Phenias Sagonda, Knowledge Ndlovu and Nomalungelo Mathe will be taking part in the tournament that is strictly by invitation.

The tournament is sponsored by the Kasparov Chess Foundation Africa and will run from April 18 to 21. chess

Garry Kasparov is a renowned Russian Chess master. He is a former World Chess champion, considered by many to be the greatest chess player of all time.

From 1986 until his retirement in 2005, Kasparov was ranked world number one.

He holds records for consecutive professional tournament victories (15) and Chess Oscars (11). It is going to be divided into two categories, the World Chess Federation, FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs) section which is sponsored to the tune of $5 000 and the open section which is sponsored to the tune of $2 750.

General Master Sergei Kasparov from Belarus and International Master Kenny Solomon from South Africa confirmed participation.
