Miriam Sibanda (43) of Luveve and Alice Maphosa (38) of Gwabalanda were convicted and fined on their own plea of guilty for stealing seven formal trousers, four khaki trousers and six weaves from Power Sales when they appeared before Beitbridge magistrate Gloria Takundwa.

The incident happened on April 16 and the two were only arrested in Gwanda after being nabbed for stealing in another shop.

Sibanda, a single mother of six who earns a living through selling some materials in Musina, said she had stolen the clothes because she wanted to sell them to raise money to pay examination fees for her twins.

Maphosa, who also sells wares in Musina, said she was just tempted to steal.
