Victoria-Falls-gorgeHer body was found along the Zambezi River on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls on Tuesday. Zambian Southern province police commissioner Mary Chikwanda yesterday confirmed the suicide tragedy to Southern Eye.

“Yes, the body was recovered on Tuesday and she has since been buried in Livingstone,” Chikwanda said.

“She threw herself into the Victoria Falls after she said she had been a disappointment to her family after her parents paid fees for her at universities in Namibia and Botswana respectively, but she failed.”

Sources in Victoria Falls said the body of the woman, identified as Carol Kanyemr rapid four downstream along the Zambezi River after the waterfalls.

According to the Zambian deputy police commissioner for southern province Milner Muyambango, the woman had been last seen at the Victoria Falls on Friday evening last week.

“A few days before Kanyembo took her life, she sent text messages to her close friends which read that she would take her life on grounds that she was a disappointment to her parents,” he added.
