Lovemore Mugande of Sizinda village under chief Mvuthu was convicted on his own plea of guilty when he appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Sharon Rosemani.

Prosecutor Listen Nare said on May 27 at around 7pm, Mugande visited his girlfriend Beauty Dube (38) at her homestead in Sizinda in the company of his friend.

It was alleged that Dube exchanged phone numbers with Mugande’s friend in his presence and they promised to call each other..

This did not go down well with Mugande who accused Dube of flirting and disrespecting him in front of his friend.

The two exchanged harsh words resulting in Mugande slapping Dube twice on the face before picking up a wooden chair and striking her twice on the mouth and once on the head.

She fell unconscious and was ferried to hospital. A medical report proved that Dube lost four front teeth and sustained a deep cut in the head.

Rosemani remanded Mugande in custody for sentencing today.
