Police this morning also came searching for the editor of Zimbabwe Independent Dumisani Muleya who is currently on leave. The police did not say why they were looking for Muleya.

However, Kudzayi has since handed himself over to the police, following raids on his home and his workplace, fellow journalists said. Police have not confirmed Kudzayi’s arrest.

Kudzayi was two months ago appointed editor of the Sunday Mail after its previous editor Brezhnev Malaba had been forced out under unclear circumstances.

Kudzayi’s appointment ruffled some feathers in Zanu PF culminating in President Robert Mugabe publicly censuring Information minister Jonathan Moyo over appointments made in the public of people deemed to have worked for the opposition.

Meanwhile in Bulawayo, Chronicle editor Mduduzi Mathuthu had his house burgled early this morning and property stolen.
