Tilus marketing manager Priscilla Lambert said the donation was aimed at uplifting lives of students at the school by providing them with the necessary infrastructure for learning.

“This is a community sponsorship from Tilus as we believe in giving back to the community. The once-off donation to Sizane will assist with the building of an ‘A’ Level classroom block,” Lambert said.

“We were looking at what we can give back to society as a way of appreciating the unceasing support they give us and we thought it good to donate 100 bags of cement.”

Sizane High School head reverend Deborah Manyoba expressed appreciation for the donation.

“We are just thankful and it’s overwhelming. They just approached us asking how best they could help us and we told them. Now they have come and donated 100 bags of cement,” she said.

“We were finding it difficult to complete the building, but now it would be easy. We were failing to accommodate all of our students due to classroom shortages.”

Manyoba added that the building, which is at foundation level, would cost about $47 000 to complete.

Last month, Tilus entered into a partnership with a local financial services firm Nandico to provide a credit facility for customers.

The facility is targeted at assisting about 5 000 Bulawayo City Council employees and civil servants in and around Bulawayo by the end of 2015.
