The concert, to feature an array of performances by local artistes that include Vocal Ex, Exmile, Thandy Dlana, Zet Moyo and Rudo Armor, is slated for the Bulawayo Theatre on Saturday.

Emthunzini Wethemba was reported in November last year to have left at least 40 children living with disabilities stranded following its closure due to the termination of a contract with donors.

Yemurai Nyoni, one of the organisers of the concert who doubles up as the director of Dot Youth the brains behind the project, said their organisation in the long run aims at reaching out to more homes.

Nyoni said they were forced to intervene at Emthunzini Wethemba following the “sad” news that the home was on the verge of closing down.

“We have been working with the home for a while and were touched by the news that the home could close down. We realised that our donations were not making a lasting impact and decided to do something that would benefit the home in the long run, “he said Nyoni added that various stakeholders had come up to support the concert, but appealed to other donors to come forward on Saturday.

“We have various organisations, groups and artistes who have partnered with us such as the Enacpus, Bulawayo Junior City Council, Café Munandi, Artefacts and Multi-media. We are appealing to the community at large to donate books, clothes, blankets and any other items to support the campaign,” he said.
