Copa Coca-Cola games begin

THE Copa Coca-Cola football tournament Bulawayo provincial qualifiers get into gear this morning at Gifford High School with 12 schools taking part in the Under-16 boys and Under-17 girls’ categories.

This year’s Copa Coca-Cola tournament has been bankrolled to the tune of $250 000 up from $230 000 for the competition held under the National Association of Secondary School Heads.

Both categories have benn slotted into two groups and the defending champions in the boys’ section, hosts Gifford, are Group A with Magwegwe and Tennyson Hlabangana.

In Group B, there is former Bulawayo livewire Mzilikazi battling it out with Milton and Pumula.

In the girls’ category Group A comprises Inyanda, Magwegwe and Sobukhazi.

Defending Bulawayo champions Montrose will battle it out with Masotsha and Maranatha in Group B.

Two schools will head to inter-provincial finals to be hosted by Churchill High School in Harare on the weekend of July 18-20.
