A GOKWE man accused of raping and impregnating his 16-year-old daughter stunned the Magistrates’ Court by saying he was advised by an inyanga to have sex with her so that he could get rich.

The man from Chief Mutendi’s area also told Gokwe resident magistrate Shepherd Mjanja that he never raped his daughter, but had consensual sex with her.
He was remanded in custody to today.
When Mjanja asked him why he raped his own daughter, the man responded: “I visited a traditional healer who advised me that if I have sex with my daughter I would get rich. I never raped her, but we always consented to sex.
I would talk to her each time I wanted to have sex with her and she would agree with me.”
The court heard that from October 2013 to January, the man took his daughter to a bushy area where he allegedly raped her on several occasions.
The offence came to light when the girl fell pregnant and told her relatives that her father was responsible.
