MA 1-hit maker Pee-Kay dates Bulawayo

The Harare rapper who released his track Ma 1 or Mahwani which features Bashupi and Speedy of Bongo Muffin, late last year. It’s still making waves at most Bulawayo’s club joints.

Sibanengi Ndebele, aka DJ Mzoe, who doubles up as an entertainment manager at Club Forty-40, confirmed the show yesterday.

“It’s going to be one of the best nights ever in Bulawayo as Pee-Kay will be having his first tour at Club Forty-40 ,” he said.

“Most young people these days are into naija tracks and this song Tobhigwa Nemamonya popularly known as Mahwani/Ma1 is more like our own Zim naija though it’s Afro- hip-hop.”

Pee-Kay is expected to perform from 8pm till the wee hours of Saturday and will give a taste of his latest song with Busy Signal.

Local artistes, Mzoe 7, Khoi Khoi, Leentatainment, Izikhothane and Bovas will get a chance to share the stage with Pee-Kay. DJs Ally Touch, Mzoe, Ericado, Lady Carol would also warm up the decks ahead of the show.

In an interview with Pee-Kay’s manager Kevin Kumire said he was happy that they will entertain Bulawayo and people should expect fireworks.

“We are honoured to fully entertain our Bulawayo fans and this is the first time Pee-Kay will perform at Club Forty-40,” he said “Pee- Kay will put up a show and will also perform his new track which he featured Busy Signal.”

Pee-Kay who is a hip-hop recording artist, songwriter and record producer will give away a lot of CDs and promo T-shirts’ and will perform tracks such as Show me love which features Busy Signal, Letting Go, Kwakumberi and Kapi Kacho.

Meanwhile, Pee-Kay said people should come prepared and more energy on Friday night.

Pee-Kay’s music is Afro-hip-hop which he says is distinctly Zimbabwean. His hit single Mahwani is characterised by the use of syncopation that reflects the wide urban Zimbabwean landscape.
