One of the three lawyers representing the nine suspects, Tanaka Muganyi, yesterday confirmed that his clients were on Friday further remanded.

“We didn’t make the application on Friday. However, we are still to make it on the next remand date which is September 19,” said Muganyi.

In making the application, the lawyers are arguing that their clients arrived at the scene when the deceased, Thembelenkosini Hloli (24), was already dying.

Hloli died after being allegedly stabbed by Dynamos supporters for smashing the window of a Toyota Ipsum together with his two friends Nkosiphile Lusinga (19) and Decent Sibanda (26) in the aftermath of the match that the Harare side won 1-0.

The nine DeMbare, Emmason Msipa (44), Honest Makhala (28), Onisimo Maphosa (33), Rogder Dye “Murehwa” Trechsen (42), Pretty Ndora (27), Margaret Mpofu (23), George Chapindura (43), Nandi Nyoni (31) and Chamas Misiwo (29) are out of custody on $50 bail each which was granted by Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa.

Hloli was allegedly stabbed in the stomach at Renkini long-distance bus terminus in Bulawayo after being allegedly chased by the suspects.
