Sources said hell broke loose after MDC-T women’s assembly chairperson Gladys Mathe lost her post.

She reportedly vented her anger on national deputy organising secretary Abednico Bhebhe whom she accused of engineering her loss. She reportedly accused Bhebhe of pushing interests of a faction linked to MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe.

“I lost my son 10 years ago and all this while you people have been sleeping at home with your families, now you sell out for beer? Never!” Mathe was heard shouting.

She then picked up a stone and tried to hit one of the officials she blamed for her loss. One of Mathe’s supporters said the people who voted were not genuine MDC-T supporters.

However, acting MDC-T provincial chairperson, Dorcas Sibanda, downplayed the disturbances saying there was nothing unusual.

“We are going around making sure that all branches are in place as we are getting ready for the congress,” she said.
