The event which ran from September 25 to 28 under the theme AfroCentrica was graced by big names such as actor Yuriy Kolokolnikov of an American fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones.

The professional stylist and grooming consultant Zoowie who scooped the award for the first time, told Southern Eye Lifestyle that he was ecstatic and overjoyed.

“I am very excited; it is an honour to be recognised as a style icon, at the same time it is uncomfortable as people will raise their expectations towards me. I believe style is not only about looks, but it is more of a lifestyle, how you live, where you live, what you eat and how you relate with people,” he said.

Zoowie has been an understudy to founder of South Africa’s first black—owned wedding and event design company, Alfred B Muntz.

Moyo who was among the three finalists is the powerhouse behind the selection of three Zimbabwean designers, Shadow By Sidumiso, Rebelious Klothing and BlinQ by Sheenah, who showcased this August at the Africa Fashion Week in Canada.

Moyo was again nominated for style icon of the year award alongside Big Brother Africa The Chase’s Pokello Nare in 2013.

Some of the categories at the ZFW were male model of the year, female model of the year, accessories designer of the year, emerging designer of the year, young designer of the year and designer of the year.
