A 36-year-old Chivi man appeared in the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court on Friday facing incest and rape charges for impregnating his 13-year-old daughter.
ALLIEWAY NYONI OWN CORRESPONDENT The man from Tagwirei village under Chief Watumwa was remanded in custody to October 3 by Masvingo regional magistrate Collet Ncube for allegedly sexually abusing his Form 1 daughter several times resulting in her falling pregnant.
The State alleged that in January, the man allegedly slept with his daughter on several occasions without anyone knowing and the probability of him threatening her not to reveal the abuse to anyone, was high.
On September 15, the mother discovered that her daughter was pregnant and interrogated her to disclose the person responsible.
The juvenile lied to her mother by implicating a schoolmate.
When the mother ordered her daughter to escort her to the responsible schoolmate, it was then that she revealed her dad was responsible and had slept with her on numerous occasions.
She confronted her husband, who allegedly severely assaulted her for daring to question him over a taboo issue. The girl then alerted a teacher at her school and a police report was made, leading to the arrest of her father.
