Last week, the students lost 33-53 to Southern Mavericks while in the season opening game they dismissed City Knights 85-21.

After picking up maximum points following their 72-36 victory over LSU last week, Giants continued from where they left off when they beat Elephants 62-48.

The game against LSU was the second for Giants as they were inactive in the first matches of the season.

In another game played in the men’s section on Saturday, Oilers beat City Knights 84-5. It was the second defeat for City Knights this season. The match pitting KAOS, a team which consists of veteran players, against Highlanders was cancelled due to bad lighting.

In the women’s section, Lakers A beat Highlanders 36-16 while Nust beat Lupane State University 34-22.

Bulawayo Basketball Association secretary-general Howard Phangwana said they failed to fixture many games as the courts were not finished in time.

“The other court was supposed to be ready by the time we played on Saturday, but it was not. So we had to use one court.

“We are now hoping that by next Saturday we should have the two courts ready so that more teams can play,” he said.

The league consists of 10 teams in the women’s section while the men’s section has the same number of teams respectively.

Hawks, Nkulumane Stars, Lakers B, Flame Lily, Angels, Southern Mavericks are the women’s teams that did not play on Saturday while Southern Mavericks and Highlanders were out of action in the men’s category.
