Mpilo chief executive officer (CEO) Lawrence Mantiziba expressed gratitude to ZB for the donation, saying the sheets would improve services at the institution.
“The relationship between Mpilo Central Hospital and ZB Bank has grown over the years, as the bank recently donated over $2 000,” he said.
“Our resource mobilisation account is at ZB Bank.”
Mantiziba urged the Mpilo Hospital officials to look after the donated materials so that the donors will be encouraged to give more.
He said ZB Bank was one of the first companies to offer support as the financially stricken hospital continues to reach out to donors for its day to day running.
ZB Financial Holdings Group offers both commercial banking and investments banking products and services, with ZB Bank operating more than 50 branches countrywide.
Shadreck Madewu, the relationship manager in corporate and investment banking, indicated that ZB Bank had a responsibility towards society that fosters goodwill and improves the lives of the people within their communities.
“ZB Financial Holdings has in place a corporate social investment programme that commits a portion of its annual earnings toward enhancing the quality of life for the society,” he said.
“We acknowledge that adverse health issues affect the level of economic productivity and wellbeing of communities.
“With this in mind the bank has seen fit to donate this token in the form of bed sheets.”
Meanwhile, Mpilo Central Hospital will host a fundraising dinner in Johannesburg, South Africa, before February 2015.
