Christians prepare for heaven

WHAT is heaven that makes Christians spend all their time preparing for?

WHAT is heaven that makes Christians spend all their time preparing for?

Heaven is the dwelling place of God, He lives there, it is His home. It’s the home of all angelic hosts and it will be our permanent home when we leave this earth (the saints/Christians).

In Deuteronomy 26 vs 15 the Bible says: “Look down from your holy habitation, from heaven. . .”

Heaven is the throne room of God. Psalm 103 vs 19,“The LORD has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all.”

Heaven is the place of God’s full glory. The book of Daniel 7 vs 9-10, speaks of the ancient of days (Jesus).

Daniel 7 vs 9-10: “I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated. His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire.

“A fiery stream issued And came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him. Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened.”

His garment was white as snow.

His hair, like pure wool.

His throne – fiery flame,

Heaven is the home of the righteous (believers who died in the Lord). Corinthians 5vs 1,“For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

Heaven is the future home of all believers. Not pastors only, not one particular church, but all who believe, all nationalities, race and tribes.

Revelation 7 vs 9-10: “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands.

“And crying out with a loud voice, saying, salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

Heaven is a place of continual worship. Revelation 19 vs 1-6, “After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honour and power belong to the Lord our God!

“For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.

“Again they said, Alleluia! Her smoke rises up forever and ever! And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, “Amen! Alleluia!”Vs 5, ‘Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!

“And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thundering, saying, Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!”

Enoch is there, Abraham, Noah, David, Solomon, Paul, Peter, Jonah and many others.

Heaven is a place that will never end. It’s not made to last for hours, days, years but eternally. 2 Peter 1 vs 11, “for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.”

Heaven does not fade it’s economy does not suffer from hyper inflation. It’s built to last forever.

Heaven is a place untainted by evil. Revelation 21 vs 27:“But there shall by no means enter anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the lamb’s book of life.

The book of revelation further describes heaven (New Jerusalem) as a place without night, curse, pain, tears or death.

What is our link with heaven? There is a special relationship between heaven and believers. We belong there. Hebrews 12 vs 22-23, “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels “to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect”

We are enthroned there. Ephesians 2 vs 6: “and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

We have our source of life there. Ephesians 1 vs 3:“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ”

We have our names recorded there. 1 Peter 1 vs 3-4: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

“To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.”

We have our eyes fixed there. 2 Corinthians 4 vs 17-18: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

“While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Psalm 116 vs 5: “Gracious is the LORD, and righteous Yes, our God is merciful”.

The death of a believer is very precious to God. The earth loses, but heaven gains. People on earth are sorrowful and God and the angelic hosts rejoice.

People on earth cry tears of sorrow and in heaven there is joy in welcoming a faithful hero. The words often directed to those that enter heaven are, welcome, well done thou good and faithful servant.

When you accept Jesus as Lord and personal saviour while here on earth, you are ensured to go to heaven.
