Some of the organisations that received donations, which included groceries, towels and mosquito nets, included Victoria Falls Hospital, Old people’s home and Roses of Charity.
Patson Tofireyi, a doctor at Victoria Falls Hospital, said the donations were greatly appreciated, as they would help patients enjoy Christmas like everyone else.
“We are happy as the medical team at Victoria Falls with the contribution made by the mayor, it will go a long way in terms of supporting patients considering the poor social backgrounds that they are coming from,” he said.
“Taking note of the fact that it’s festive season, somebody admitted over the holidays has to feel at home like everybody else.”
Tofireyi said this was the second festive season contribution they have received this year following the Christmas lunch sponsored by Elephant Hills Resort they had last week.
“Administration, staff and children thank the office of the mayor of Victoria Falls for the support we have been getting,” Prince Dube, the public relations officer of Rose of Charity orphanage, he said.
