Club chairman Lifa Ncube yesterday confirmed that they would be renewing Dube’s contract and parting ways with four players.

Ncube said they had managed to retain most of their players from last season and were hoping to promote five juniors in the 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

“We are confident in the squad we have and we will not be looking for any big names. We would be promoting five players from our juniors and we have retained most of our players. We would be renewing Mkhokheli (Dube)’s contract very soon. We have, however, released (Ramson) Zhuwao and goalkeeper Bhekimpilo Ncube.

“We are starting our pre-season on Wednesday and this year we don’t want to hold any trials as we have identified and we are content with the players that we have,” Ncube said.

Chicken Inn ended the season on position six last year with 44 points, just a point behind city neighbours Highlanders.

They are reportedly eyeing Tsholotsho FC gunman Edmore Chirambadare, but Ncube yesterday could neither deny nor confirm other than to say Joey Antipas and members of the technical team had watched the striker play.

Ncube yesterday said midfielder Danny “Deco” Phiri, reportedly wanted by champions Dynamos, was still their player after signing a three-year contract last year.

“We did ourselves good by managing to renew most of players contracts. Deco is still our player as he signed for three years with us in November last year,” Ncube said.

Some of the players that Chicken Inn have retained are Clemence Matawu, Tendai Mukumbi, Thomas Chimenya, Ishmael Lawe, Thabani Goredema, Brian Mbiriri, Moses Jackson, Charles Mutero, Ben Nyahunzvi, Brian Juru and George Majika.

Young Devine Lunga, promoted from the juniors last year is still in their books.

Also retained are the trusted goalkeepers Elvis Chipezeze, Liberty Chirava and Pride Zendera.
