JOHANNESBURG — Controversial businessman and music promoter Prosper Mkwaiwa has died.
Daily Sun understands that the husband of musician Tina Mkwaiwa died on Sunday night in Ekangala, Mpumalanga province, South Africa.
Prosper had at one time dated actress and singer Kelly Khumalo.
It is believed Mkwaiwa was on his way to Dark City Clinic when he died. His friend, Jacob Mnisi, said Mkwaiwa complained of a high fever before he died.
He said: “Prosper complained about high fever and he was taken to the clinic. He died on the way to the clinic.”
Mnisi said he was with Mkwaiwa in Witbank on Saturday and he had appeared to be fine.
“I am sad my friend passed away after spending some quality time with him a day before,” he said.
Daily Sun contacted Tina, but she was too distraught to talk.

“I am on my way to the clinic to find out what exactly happened,” she sobbed.
One of Tina’s friends said Mkwaiwa was still taking medication after an accident last year. He was believed to be well on his way to recovery.
Mkwaiwa relocated to South Africa from Zimbabwe.
He was previously married to the television actress Tina Jaxa, with whom he had two children.
Mkwaiwa was living with his two kids in Bronkhorstspruit after kicking out his current wife.
His death came a day after another TV star Simba Mhere died in a car accident, as well as popular house DJ Bojo Moujo.
