Harare scooped gold in the Under-16 girls’ category after beating Mashonaland East 31-29, their senior women’s side outclassed Bulawayo 41-27 while their senior men were on fire beating the Midlands 85-37 in the finals.

Bulawayo and the Midlands both settled for silver and bronze medals in the senior women and men categories while Mashonaland East walked away with one bronze medal in the Under-16 boys’ category.

Watida Mukukula took the most valuable player title for the Under-16 boys, while Happiness Maroto received one for the Under-16 girls and Tatenda Maturure for senior men.

A basketball official Simon Lawson said the inter-provincials were used to scout for players for the national team.

“Eight provinces were assembled for a two-day event in a bid to select a national team to represent the country in international tournaments,” he said.

“The Under-16 national team will represent Zimbabwe in Fiba tournaments to be held in Botswana in April while the senior team will play in the All-Africa Games qualifiers later this month,” he said.
