He appeared before the Western Commonage provincial magistrate Willard Mafios Moyo where he pleaded guilty to the charge, but claimed the juvenile forced him to sleep with her.

“She came to my house and stripped naked. I was forced to be intimate with her throughout the night. I could not resist though I knew it was a crime,” said Mtasa.

Mtasa was slapped with a 12-month jail term, of which six months were conditionally suspended for five years.

The remaining six months were suspended on condition that he performs 210 hours of community service.

Prosecutor Mufaro Mageza told the court that the 14-year-old schoolgirl from Ekusileni Secondary in Filabusi escaped from the boarding facilities and travelled to her boyfriend in Bulawayo.

She called Mtasa when she got to Bulawayo and he told her to wait until he knocked off.

“I took her to my house since she did not want her guardians to know she was in Bulawayo,” Mtasa said.

The two had sexual intercourse three times that night.

Early in the morning, the girl went home where she stole $800, which she used to buy two phones.

She was caught by her aunt and handed over to the police where she disclosed that she had had sexual intercourse with Mtasa the previous night.
