RETIRED Supreme Court judge Justice Wilson Sandura has died, two weeks after he was involved in a road accident in Mt Darwin.

He was 74. The former judge president reportedly died at Avenues Clinic in Harare where he was receiving treatment following the February 27 accident.

Sandura retired from the on July 29, 2011.

He rose to prominence in 1989 when he headed a commission of inquiry that investigated the abuse of office by government officials involving a scheme to buy vehicles from the Willowvale Motor Industries.

The inquiry was known as the Sandura Commission and it claimed the scalps of prominent politicians such as the late Enos Nkala who was forced to retire from politics.
