Bosso fans besieged the team’s clubhouse after the loss calling for the coach’s sacking, but Mafu attributed the defeat to loss of manpower due to injuries and said they would be working hard to try and redress the situation.

“We apologise for the defeat and we appreciate their (the fans)pain. We played below Highlanders standards. But at the same time we have Douglas Sibanda, Mthulisi (Maphosa), Obadiah Tarumbwa, Gabriel (Nyoni) and Rahman (Kutsanzira) injured. Ozias Zibande came in and played, but he is recuperating.

King Nadolo was just coming from an injury and was pulled out. Simbarashe (Sithole) is in bereavement after losing his grandmother last week. Mthulisi is one of our influential players.

These are not excuses, but we are going to work hard to redress the situation,” Mafu said.
