Mpopoma beat Luveve in the boys’ category 2-1 to progress to the nationals while the girls side beat Eveline with the same scoreline.

They were drawn against defending champions Conway College of Mashonaland West and Masvingo’s Chivi in the boy’s Group A while in the girls they are in Pool B against Masarakufa of Mashonaland East and Mashonaland Central’s Kanyemba.

“We have been preparing hard for the competition and we are hopeful that we will do well especially in the boys’ category. However the girls have been performing well as well and we expect them do do well as well,” James Rugwevera said.

He said they have represented Bulawayo for the past couple of years save for last year when they were beaten by Induna and Eveline. In 2013, the boys team won bronze: “It has been difficult for the girls to get a medal and we are hoping this year will be different,” Rugwevera said.

In the boys’ Pool B Visitation (Mashonaland East), Mutare Boys’ High (Manicaland) and Churchill of Harare will compete for a spot on the semis while in Pool C Ngezi (Mashonaland West), Guinea Fowl (Midlands) and Mazowe (Mashonaland Central) while in D Marondera (Mashonaland East), Matopo and Tsholotsho of Matabeleland South and North respectively.

In the girls category Masvingo’s Chibi who are the defending champions are against Mufakose 2 of Harare and Singwango of Matabeleland South while in Group C Dewure (Masvingo), Mnene (Midlands) and Nyashanu of Manicaland while in D Marondera or Mashonaland East, Tsholotsho (Matabeleland North) and Chinhoyi of Mashonaland West.
