Prosecuting, Daniel Tafuma told the court that on December 3 this year, Sibanda stabbed his mother to death after they allegedly quarrelled over an undisclosed matter.

The matter came to light last Saturday when the deceased’s neighbour became inquisitive over her whereabouts and immediately alerted the police. When the police broke into the house, they found the woman lying dead in a pool of blood.

Police launched a manhunt for the suspect and that is when they were tipped that Sibanda had been spotted in Mbare.

He was later arrested at his hideout and taken to Stodart Police Station en-route to Gweru Central Police Station, where he was detained on Monday.
