High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese yesterday heard that Charles Chifamba Moyo brutally killed his girlfriend Fadzai Chipfunde and later attempted to commit suicide after the latter had ended their relationship on November 12, 2014.

After stabbing her, the court heard Moyo went on to strangle her with a piece of cloth before taking a poisonous substance. He was, however, rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital where upon recovery was arrested and charged for murder.

Makonese convicted him of murder with actual intent, describing him as “an evil man” who deserved life imprisonment.
