Max Mind challenges Farai Maguwu to prove his false claims of grave desecration at Sabi Star Mine

Max Mind Investments (Zimbabwe).

Max Mind Investments (Zimbabwe) has noted with concern a false and malicious post made by Farai Maguwu on X on 27 October 2025, alleging that over 10,000 graves were desecrated by Chinese miners in Zimbabwe, and falsely claiming that Sabi Star Mine in Buhera used excavators for exhumations.

We recognise that issues involving the resting places of loved ones are deeply sensitive. We therefore begin by expressing our continued sympathy and respect to the families who, in 2022 and 2023, agreed to lawful reburials to make way for the establishment of the mine.

In total, 22 graves were exhumed and reburied — five in 2022 and seventeen in 2023 — in full compliance with Zimbabwean law and traditional protocols, and under the supervision of Buhera district authorities, traditional leaders, and the affected families.

All reburials were professionally conducted by a local funeral services company, with each family receiving compensation and full coverage of funeral and traditional expenses. Other burial sites within the mine area remain fenced off and undisturbed.

Max Mind Investments firmly rejects Maguwu’s baseless allegations and challenges him to provide evidence for his claims. We also urge media outlets and online platforms to verify facts before publishing such serious accusations. Knowingly spreading unverified claims that cause distress to families and communities is unethical and may attract legal consequences.

As a company operating in Buhera, we remain committed to transparency, respect, and dialogue with all stakeholders. Our offices and community liaison team remain available to provide accurate information and respond to media queries.
